Breathing In & OuT

In Suriname still and taking it easy as ever. yesterday i had a audio interview and I filmed the two CEO's of Legacy Entertainment (Suri Hip Hop Agency) Ori Plet (Rapper) & Fabian Siymour (Director). We talked bout the upcoming elections, their opinion on youth policies, hate in the game, goals in the music scene, business attitude, forefathers, Surinam History and more. I filmed a piece in which they tell their story about their journey to having their own agency at the LothLaan in Paramaribo. They promote Hip Hop, Reggae & Jazz artists. Faya Boy Tong Twista, Kelita gallant, Ori, P.I.T  just to name a few.
They also work with positive projects as Young in Prison at the Opa Doeli Center (Prison for the youth in Suriname) & The American Embassy on the Black History Month events with Sub-Z from Washington DC (Rapper). (soon on youtube)

Since my arrival I have had conversations many inspiring people about education, winti culture, family values now-a-days in suriname, consumer behaviour, business oppurtunities, attitude bondage of many and more.

I have enjoyed being with my niece Precious, my dad-moms-brother Kwame. Ze zeggen: Van Je familie Moet Je het hebben. Ik ben daar heel dankbaar voor. Mi lobie den fu tru...

Conversations recorded are: with a young inspiring lady from Mungo (during the opening of Marcel Pinas' Tembe Art Studio); Two young just-out lesbians (in Suriname called mattie's) about the lifestyle, image, taboos and their part in cracking the taboo - alongside their opinion on politics/elections; I also spoke to Johanna, a owner of The Hairbox (Keizerstraat 19), a hairsaloon in Paramaribo that specialises in dreadlocks (a phenomenon that you see alot on the paramaribo streets) and such. (the film it's more like a day in comedy land with a serious tip!) She rocks and is one of the many females that own and manage organisations/businesses in this land). Paramaribo SPAN is no more. the last day was last sunday. i enjoyed it! Hopefully it won't stay at this one-time event thing. Another ART event opened it's doors on the 13th of March called Schaafijs & Wilde Bussen in Commewijne (also a collaboration with our former-colonizers, Holland)

I breathe the air of raindropped soil
taste the mango that just fell with twig and all from the tree in next yard
enjoy the awara fruits that sticks between mi teeth
sit in canoes on rivers that rise round six in the evening
inhale the fused odours of women & men that pass me on Paramaribo streets, on Brunsi market and in theatres where laughter is deep.
Suriname I take you in
breathing you in & out.

Tonite I have an interview with a young man that organises VERANDA parties at his place for gays/bi's/open-minded folks to share laughter/thoughts/life.

I haven't heard a word or seen a cent of my so-called main sponsors. Guess it's meant to be that the knock of Self-Reliance makes love to my door again. The show must & will go on.
